Speakers discussed how emerging nuclear energy breakthroughs can improve system flexibility, support the integration of higher shares of variable renewable energy, and ultimately lead to cleaner, more resilient power. ClearPath and LucidCatalyst held a webinar on the role of flexible nuclear energy in future energy systems. Rich Powell of ClearPath moderated, Eric Ingersoll presented and panelists (Dr Rachel Slaybaugh of ARPA-E, Dr. Shannon Bragg-Sitton of Idaho National Lab, and Prof. Melissa Lott of Columbia University) discussed findings from the newly published LucidCatalyst Study, which derived the maximum allowable capital cost for advanced reactors by modeling their performance in four of the major power markets in the U.S. in 2034.

The New Nuclear Watch Institute believes Europe needs both nuclear and renewable energy to meet its challenging targets. The Forum was an opportunity to hear from and question industry experts and policy makers and exchange views and information about the future of the nuclear industry in Europe. We were pleased to attend and speak at the Forum.
