Kirsty Gogan and Isuru Seneviratne speak at Nuclear Symposium 2026 during Climate Week NYC

Kirsty Gogan, LucidCatalyst Managing Partner and Founding Director and Co-CEO of Terra Praxis, and Isuru Seneviratne, LucidCatalyst Director, spoke at the Nuclear Symposium 2026: Partnerships for Success, held during Climate Week NYC. Now in its fourth year, the Symposium is hosted by Nuclear New York with the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability, Generation Atomic, Cornell NiCE and Columbia NiCE (Nuclear is Clean Energy).

The Symposium is produced by Nuclear New York, Generation Atomic, the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability, and Cornell NiCE (Nuclear is Clean Energy), building on New York's push for a clean energy future and its commitment to delivering clean, safe, reliable, and affordable power at scale across the nation.

Day 1, at the New York City Bar Association, focused on New York and the Northeast: upstate New York communities keen to host new nuclear generation capacity, federal financing support, priorities for labor, and infrastructure investments under electricity auction markets. Day 2, at Cornell Tech's Verizon Executive Education Center on Roosevelt Island, turned to the national and global picture, featuring a commissioner of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, New York Power Authority leadership, technology developers, utility executives, civic society voices, and industrial energy consumers.

On Day 2 Kirsty joined the panel "Innovations for Nuclear Bankability," moderated by Hunter Dare (Oppenheimer Energy), with Elina Teplinsky (Pillsbury), Jake Jurewicz (Blue Energy) and Erich Scherer (New York State Energy Research and Development Authority). The panel discussed how to turn nuclear designs into bankable projects at scale: delivery models, financing structures, government support and the capital stack. This is the ground covered by Terra Praxis' recent discussion paper, REPOWER New York, which sets out how repowering fossil and industrial sites with advanced nuclear can deliver 5 GW of new capacity for the state's Nuclear Reliability Backbone faster and cheaper, with two tools that reduce risk and capital cost in a project's early stages. Kirsty has also spoken on nuclear financing on panels with the IEA, OECD NEA, and the World Bank.

Also on Day 2, Isuru moderated "The Nuclear Fuel Cycle — From Sourcing to Enrichment to Recycling," with Carl Perez (Exodys Energy) and Gayatri Karnik (SuperCritical Materials). The panel followed the fuel supply chain from end to end: whether uranium supply can keep pace with demand after 2030, new sources such as uranium extracted from seawater, and the recycling of spent fuel. Isuru presented the uranium demand sensitivity to nuclear delivery models from LucidCatalyst's 2025 report, "A new nuclear world: how SMRs can power industry."

Isuru also helped organize the Symposium.
